How to read a floor plan before you book
A good plan wastes little space on corridors, gives every bedroom a usable wall for furniture and keeps the kitchen close to the dining area. Use this checklist when the layouts arrive.
- Area definition: note the carpet area, built-up area and super built-up area for the exact unit.
- Bedroom shape: square or near-square rooms are easier to furnish than long narrow ones.
- Ventilation and light: check which rooms open to the outside and which depend on ducts.
- Kitchen and utility: look for a service area, platform length and space for a washing machine.
- Balconies: see how many there are, where they face and whether they connect to the living room.
- Structure: columns inside rooms limit furniture placement; ask for the structural layout if unclear.
- Privacy: check the position of the main door against bedroom doors and the living area.
Choosing between 2, 3 and 4 BHK
Pick the configuration for the next ten years, not today. A couple expecting a child or working from home may outgrow a 2 BHK sooner than planned, while a 4 BHK suits joint families or buyers who want guest rooms and a study.
